TAMSA LEADERSHIP SEMINAR

The TAMSA LEADERSHIP SEMINAR is an interactive event held each year since 2017 by the medical students Themselves and other important and experienced members of the health community such as professors, Lecturers, and other prominent figures. Here all differences are put aside to discuss major agendas that Aim directly at benefiting the medical community at large which inevitably improves health service Delivery to the public.

OBJECTIVES

  • To create resilient and mentally stable Leaders with a strong sense of responsibility and pride in what they do.
  • To train medical students, preparing them to become good physicians and leaders.

  • To project a positive image of the medical students in the country and worldwide.
  • To create self-aware and resilient leaders that will have a positive impact on the community and the World in general.
  • To encourage members to work towards the improvement of health conditions in Tanzania and Africa In general through participation in all matters concerning the community.
  • To encourage and facilitate members to attend various meetings to strengthen their knowledge in various matters.

TAMSA GENERAL ASSEMBLY & SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

THE ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The Tanzania Medical Students Association (TAMSA) General Assembly is an annual meeting organized by the TAMSA, of which are conducted once in a year since 2010.
It is the national body that represents all medical students in Tanzania. The General Assembly provides a platform for medical students to discuss relevant health issues, exchange ideas, and propose solutions to improve the health sector in Tanzania.
The TAMSA General Assembly also provides an opportunity for medical students to network with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the health sector. It also provides a platform for medical students to showcase their research work, innovations, and other healthcare-related projects which in turn are likely to benefit stakeholders.

Plenary sessions
This is the highest decision-making body of TAMSA. It represents an integral part of The General Assembly as it allows members to vote on changes in the Association.
Strategic plans, changes in the constitution and elections of new Leadership are all conducted during these sessions.

Standing committees’ sessions
TAMSA works on the local and national levels mainly via its six standing committees Each of them focusing on major health topics and medical student-related Interests.

These Standing Committees carry out tasks that complement the society and medical Students at large. Each standing committee seeks to deliver to their best throughout the Year and subsequently hold multiple intriguing workshops, training, charity drives, Advocating for peace, providing research literacy and spreading awareness to the Community on different health concerns.
These committees are integral to the smooth Functioning of TAMSA and they engage nationally and internationally in multiple Projects to fulfill the objectives of TAMSA as a whole.
This session shall be held to Recognize and highlight the assiduous work each committee did in their chapters and Hence derive an impact that TAMSA is creating in Tanzania and globally.

  • 6. Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP)
  • 7. Standing Committee on Publicity and information (SCOPI)
  • 8. Standing Committee on Social Activities (SCOSA).

THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

The Tanzania Medical Students Association (TAMSA) International Scientific Conference is an annual event organized by TAMSA in collaboration with various Partners. It has been conducted once in a year since 2010.

The conference brings together medical students, healthcare professionals, Researchers, and experts from around the world to share and discuss trending healthcare Topics, research findings, innovations, and best practices in Healthcare. The conference also serves as a platform for networking, knowledge Sharing, and building collaborations among participants. Furthermore, the conference Fills the gap by empowering delegates to engage in a constructive debate and collaborate To come up with potential solutions to solve healthcare concerns. In addition to the Scientific sessions, the conference also includes social events and cultural activities that Showcase the local culture and traditions of Tanzania.

The TAMSA International Scientific Conference is an important event in the Healthcare calendar of Tanzania and has contributed significantly to the advancement Of medical knowledge and practice in the country
MEDICAL CAMP
It will be a two-day screening program, Diseases to be screened are the non-communicable diseases and some of communicable Diseases listed as follows;
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Malaria
  • Obesity
  • Hepatitis
  • voluntary HIV Testing and counselling.
  • Other activities; blood donation, education concerning: antimicrobial resistance, breast & Cervical cancer and mental health, health practices (hygiene and parasitic infections Preventions)
The participants will have prior training on the Process awareness about medical camp. It will involve community encouragement by Advertisements via radio sessions and vehicle-speakers around the targeted districts to ensure The efficiency of medical camp.

MAIN OBJECTIVE
To create public awareness and promote healthy behaviors against communicable and non-communicable diseases

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
  • i. To bring affordable healthcare services and free health education to the community on Prevention and treatment options
  • ii. To increase the amount of blood available in the regional blood bank through blood Donation activity.
  • iii. To prepare medical students to become effective healthcare practitioners and find Solutions to community health problems.
  • iv. To provide appropriate mental health education.
  • v. To provide health education on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
  • vi. To create awareness on the importance of hygienic practices on body health.

OUTCOMES
The proposed medical camp has the potential to make a positive impact on health and well-being of the community and contribute to the sustainable development goal of ensuring healthy Lives and promoting well-being;
  • i. Raising awareness and education on healthy behaviors. Ii. Providing free medical Screening and consultation for common communicable and non-communicable diseases
  • ii. Empowerment of medical students to become good healthcare practitioners and find Solutions to community health problems.
  • iii. Empowerment of the community to take care of their own health and adopt healthy Behaviors.
